Inn & Conference Center at UMUC
Adelphi, Maryland
The Inn & Conference Center at the University of Maryland University College (UMUC)
This project which is actually an addition to the existing Inn & Conference Center demanded a design that would create a college quadrangle for the main campus of UMUC. The addition included 105 new guest rooms, 10,000 sf of meeting rooms, and art galleries. Guest rooms were designed to meet the standards of Marriott Corporation, which manages the Inn & Conference Center. The addition’s architecture is modern and uses a palette of materials to match the existing buildings of the campus. The symmetry of the addition creates a strong formal presence that is appropriate for a building that houses the main reception and registration for the Inn & Conference Center. This project achieved LEED certification and was the first hospitality project in the United States to achieve LEED recognition.
Project managed by Peyton Pond while employed at OPX, PLLC.
